How long have you thought about becoming an OnlyFans model? The platform and the whole genre of modern amateur porno was already going strong before COVID first hit, at which point the whole thing blew up in a way I don’t think any of us could have imagined. While we’re no longer isolating ourselves in our homes, a big motivator of the pandemic-era OnlyFans surge, the niche hasn’t shown any sign of slowing down. If anything, societal norms have shifted, and there are fewer prudish naysayers knocking everybody’s fun. Hell, if I see a beautiful woman on a SFW platform like Instagram, I often look to see if she’s got any social porn links listed on her profile.
I recently added a Sites Like OnlyFans section here at ThePornDude, with a couple dozen platforms and a handful of tips on how to break into the game. If you’re looking to make money on your own terms as an adult creator, my rankings and reviews can help you choose which site(s) will be most profitable for your approach. You’ll definitely want to check out the list as well as the Q&A I’ve assembled, and hopefully this little tutorial will help fill in some of the blanks I may have missed. So, who’s ready to become an OnlyFans girl? I want you to reach the top 1%, so let’s get started.
Why Would I Want to Become an Adult Creator?
Whether you’re considering signing up for OnlyFans, Fansly, or a more niche-oriented social porn platform like Feet Finder, a lot of the reasons remain the same. The biggest, most obvious draw is the one I mentioned in the intro: you can make a living or at least earn some extra pocket money on your own schedule and on your own terms. You won’t answer to a boss, nor will you ever have to do anything you don’t want to. Like the camgirls who came before the modern wave of amateur smut, it’s entirely up to you how far you want to take things.
I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you’ve already got some SFW socials, and while I’ve sometimes heard rumblings about the narcissistic nature of modern internet culture, I can sure see some upsides. Most creators on the adult platforms were snapping sexy but clean selfies long before they ever stood in front of the mirror naked, phone in hand. It’s certainly no dealbreaker if you’re not active on the mainstream social media platforms, but it can be an easier jump if you’re already practiced in the art of the selfie. Basically, a lot of you are just going to be leveling up your content into something you can sell more easily.
You’ll have to make some decisions going in, but don’t worry, you can always tweak your approach later; nothing is set in stone in this business. For now, you need to start by picking a platform. OnlyFans has the biggest userbase, but you’re going to have limited visibility unless you’ve already got a ton of followers on the cleaner sites. My platform reviews always touch on discovery, and some of the newer platforms do a much better job promoting their models. If you’re specializing in a fetish, you may want to consider a kinkier site like Fun With Feet, or even ScatBook if you’re literally filthy.
Another initial decision is whether to run a free profile, a paid one, or some combination of the two. Most OnlyFans models have both, but on other platforms, it’s often more convenient to offer both free and premium content on the same page. The general suggestion is to lure your fans in with titillating freebies, because once their dicks reach a certain hardness, they tend to start reaching for their wallets.
Do not neglect your biography and welcome message! I see so many models half-assing this, which is fine if you already have a million fans on Snapchat, but you’re shooting yourself in the boobies if you take this approach as a genuine noob. You don’t have to write a goddamn book, but it’s kind of vital to let potential subscribers know what they’re going to get for their monthly subscription fee. Even a simple bullet list of offerings can be very effective in getting visitors to follow you on a more permanent basis.
What Kind of Content Should I Offer?
Some of you may already know exactly what kind of smut you want to peddle as a creator on a site like OnlyFans, but I bet some of you are still wondering what kind of content sells best. One of the major appeals of the genre is that
you can sell whatever type of content you want. You don’t necessarily have to go hard if you don’t want to, but I’ll tell you right now, it can help. If you don’t want to get down and dirty right from jump, then it’s good to have a gimmick. BBWs, cosplay girls, ASMR artists and other fetish models can often be successful creators even without showing off their naked holes to the whole internet, but it’s more difficult for a more vanilla model.
On a similar note, most successful models on platforms like LoyalFans show their faces. Again, the kinkier, more fetish-oriented creators have greater leeway here; feet fans mainly want to see feet, and the bondage buffs don’t always mind a lady in a gimp mask. If you’re just selling candid bikini shots from the beach, it’s going to be a harder sell without a pretty face to match the body. That said, you should still stick to what you’re comfortable with. If profits are too low to make it worth your while, you can always adjust your approach later.
Whatever platform you choose, you’ll want to dig into their FAQs to figure out what kind of additional revenue streams are available. OnlyFans, for example, prohibits the sale of used panties, while platforms like Maloum include those kinds of physical goods as one of their gimmicks. Fetish models should double check to make sure their kinks are allowed, especially if there are any bodily fluids or dubious-consent roleplaying involved.
You don’t necessarily have to chat with anybody if you don’t want to, but directly interacting with your fans can be both fun and extremely profitable. Besides the boost in confidence from all your admirers, private shows, DMs and custom content can be some of your biggest money makers, and it ain’t uncommon for creators to focus on these interactions. Get them hooked with the freebies and then sell them something really fucking special—emphasis on the fucking!
How Do I Market Myself as an OnlyFans Model?
I’ve brought this up a million times in my reviews of social porn platforms, but OnlyFans sucks when it comes to discovery. A lot of the newer platforms do their best to make up for the shortcomings of the big boys in the business, but at the end of the day, the most successful creators on any site market the hell out of themselves on other, cleaner platforms. The process can be tedious, but
promotion can also be easy and fun. Mindset is part of it, of course, but the hype in this business often consists of social media posts you would have made anyway.
If you look at the stats, most subscribers (more than 50%) initially found their internet crushes on Instagram. TikTok and Reddit are a distant second at around 17% each, and I was a little surprised to find Twitter/X pulls in even fewer. They might allow more NSFW content than Insta, but it looks like Elon chased away a ton of users when he took over. Personally, I’ve found a lot of my favorite models on Reddit, where there are all kinds of explicit subs to post your promo content. Be sure to check out my massive Reddit NSFW list if you haven’t yet.
The SFW platforms often ban mention of OnlyFans and similar sites, so set up a Linktree with your full list of socials, clean and dirty. Ideally, your fans will follow you in multiple places, so you won’t lose that connection if your main Insta gets banned. Also, be careful what you say in DMs on the clean platforms, because they typically allow underage users. That’s a headache you don’t want!
I could go on and on about the perks and details of becoming an OnlyFans model, but honestly, it’s not all that complicated. If you’ve even been considering it at all, you can always slap on a disguise, pick a platform and see what sells. You get to set your own hours, decide what kind of content to release, interact with fans and just have fun doing whatever you want. Check out my list of Sites Like OnlyFans and see if any feel like a right fit.
