No, I’m not talking about that Suicide Girls website, I’m talking about Reddit’s very own /r/EmoGirlsGW, a NSFW subreddit that sees over 11 thousand weekly visitors, and anywhere between 200-1000+ active users at any given time, all of whom are focused on one thing and one thing only; the bewtiching beauty of sexy, tatted-up, fishnet-wearing, chainsmoking, piercing-having emo girls. So what makes emo girls different from alt and goth girls? Well, emo girls, or at least the modern-day variant of them, are fans of bands such as Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Rites of Spring, Fall Out Boy, and other musical acts where the lead singer yells in a typically whiny or sad tone.
These girls don’t dye their hair crazy colors, instead keeping things simple with either a pitch black or dark-colored hairdo. It’s unusually rare to see a blonde or colorful-haired emo girl, so if you do, then be sure not to wrongly categorize her as one. On the other hand, goth girls listen to typically darker or heavier bands and don’t color their hair crazy colors like alt girls do (although plenty of today’s self-proclaimed goth girls with colorful hair wrongly refer to themselves as goths since they don’t know any better).
