Over the years, I’ve reviewed a handful of video tubes where one of the big gimmicks was AV Subtitles. While we all speak the universal language of filthy, explicit sex, sometimes it’s also nice to understand what the actors and actresses are saying. A bit of expository dialog can help set the stage and adjust the dynamics, turning a blowjob scene into an office hookup, a threesome into a first-time sensual experiment, or an anal film into some kinky taboo roleplay fun. I’ve often wondered where those subtitled tubes get their subs, and frankly, I’m a little embarrassed it took me this long to figure out.
AVSubtitles.com is a free archive of adult video subtitles, just like it says on the tin. The platform’s been around since 2020 and gets hundreds of thousands of visitors a month, which is way more than I expect for a site that doesn’t even show the actual movies they’re talking about. This is a hell of a resource, though, and the popularity of the joint speaks to a human desire for a little bit of context with their fucking, sucking and BDSM orgies. Read on and I’ll tell you all about how these guys can help you out with that.
Dirty Talk Translations in Multiple Languages
When I first saw the title, I really thought AVSubtitles was going to be a JAV collection with English subtitles. “AV” means Audio/Visual in the world of SFW communications, but here in porno land, it’s typically shorthand for Adult Video. Even more specifically, AV tends to refer to Japanese Adult Video. JAV subtitles do make up a substantial portion of the catalog here, and my guess is that the site originally launched with a focus on those famous Asian fuck flicks.
In any case, one of the first things I noticed here was that they’ve got AV Subtitles in a ton of different tongues. English may be the most common translations, but there’s fresh content out front in Bulgarian, German and Spanish. The Advanced Search option includes a massive dropdown menu of languages, though they’re not all equally as well served. I found 45 pages of Indonesian subs, 73 transcribed in Portuguese, but none in Somali.
If you’ve never downloaded any AV Subtitles before, you may be wondering how all of this works. As mentioned in my intro, the site doesn’t actually host anything and outgoing links are pretty minimal, so sourcing the movies themselves is on you. These guys provide the downloadable files full of dirty words, and they’ve included some very helpful tutorials on how to use them. There’s a slight learning curve for certain elements like syncing, but the basics are simple enough even for grandpa. One of the main suggestions is to use VLC Media Player, one of my favorite video apps which I’ve reviewed here at ThePornDude.
What Kind of XXX Subs Are You Looking For?
Those of you looking for JAV subtitles will have the easiest time among inquisitive perverts here. As of this writing, there are nearly 7,000 Japanese porno movies with downloadable subs, but that’s only about half of the collection. There’s a nice variety of adult movie categories to peruse, encompassing styles, formats and genres from around the world and throughout history.
Outside of JAV, the AVSubtitles.com Web Scene aisle contains one of their heftiest stashes. This is where you find the modern internet stuff coming out of major sites like AdultTime, CzechCasting, SexMex and RealityKings. I do feel like brands could be tagged a little better, as they’re only really listed in the titles, but the site does a great job indexing the porn stars.
I spotted Madi Collins, who once stopped by PornDudeCasting, listed beneath a new PureTaboo movie. Clicking her name, I found 5 more pages of subs for her movies in English, German, Turkish, Bulgarian and Polish. There’s no Pornstars menu on the site, but you’ll see famous women everywhere. Click your favorite and see what fans have transcribed.
The Softcore and Vintage Porn selections at AVSubtitles are both full of old movies, sometimes from before the VHS era. Under Modern Porn, they’ve got a handful of longform recent releases, but it mostly leans toward DVD-era content from the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. Their Asian Erotica focuses on non-JAV Asian movies, while the Exploitation library is a surprise treat for the grindhouse fans in the audience.
As I type this up, there are around 15,000 downloadable AV Subtitles at AVSubtitles.com. You don’t have to register an account for unlimited free access, but they do make you wait about five seconds to grab it. The folks who run the joint seem to be in it for the love of porno subtitles, promising “a nice and friendly face” with minimal spam, and they deliver on that promise. I actually didn’t see any ads at all with my adblocker running, and the handful I see on the download page without it apparently don’t even cover the hosting bills.
Make Requests, Rate Subtitles and More
One of the things that really makes AV Subtitles special is that
the site is built around a thriving community of porno sub fans. There’s always chatter going on in the forum, where you can also put in your own requests for movies that haven’t been subbed yet. Questions on the Help board usually seem to get fast answers thanks to helpful perverts who share your interests.
Another big advantage of that community is that the subtitles have ratings and comments. That should save you some time avoiding the files that are out of sync or just plain wrong, though to be honest, I didn’t really see any low-rated subs as I was browsing. I’m not sure if this is a reflection on improving speech-to-text technology, or just the hard work ethic of these smut fans, but I sure ain’t complaining.
Nor am I complaining about the writeups of dirty movies. AVSubtitles.com has a growing collection of user-submitted porno reviews, and while there’s some overlap between this and what I do here at ThePornDude, there’s always room for fresh perspectives. Honestly, the internet could use more of these consumer smut reviews, especially on a third-party site like this. If somebody enjoys a stepsister flick or X-rated parody enough to post a whole-ass review here, that’s a stronger endorsement than a throwaway comment beneath the vid posted at its original source.
I didn’t find any upload dates listed among any of the AVSubtitles, but I’m comfortable saying they’re adding new subs constantly. The size of the collection, growing since 2020, suggests a steady influx of new material, as do the traffic stats and all the activity in the forum. Also, there was at least one new post as I was writing this up: a Bulgarian transcription of the dialog in Stepmom’s Spa Weekend Mix-Up, a 2024 film starring Crystal Clark.
Perhaps my biggest complaint about the site is that it could really use some more outgoing links to the original movies. It was easy enough to Google Crystal’s official posts about her stepmom flick, which debuted on ManyVids, but a simple link would let us skip that simple step. The issue is no biggie for newer, more popular releases like this, but you might have a harder time sourcing some of the more obscure movies in there. AVSubtitles.com covers a deeper niche than most of the sites I write about, and it won’t have any immediate masturbatory value to the average internet deviate. If you’re looking for subtitles for adult films, though, this is absolutely the place to get them. It’s kind of hard to overstate the value of the whole platform as a resource for porn fans around the world, but I think the strength of the community and sheer size of the growing library tell you a lot of what you need to know.
