I have to admit that when I first started reading Butt Smithy, I wasn’t expecting such a high level of storytelling. Speaking as a guy who had his name legally changed to The BongVi, though, I certainly appreciate the juvenile humor of the title; I get a lot of mileage out of butt jokes, too! This ain’t just some half-assed adult web comic full of weak puns and boobies, though. The dude behind it, InCase, is actually one of the most popular and successful artists of his kind, and the comic itself? A million monthly readers sure seem happy as hell, and probably horny, too.
ButtSmithy.com is home to Alfie, an ongoing fantasy web comic aimed squarely at adults. I’m actually pretty late to the party since it’s been running since 2010, but on the plus side, that means I have over a thousand pages to sink my sticky fingers into as I get caught up. If you’ve got a thing for naughty elf girls, there’s a decent chance you’re already reading this one. Let’s take a peek inside and see what’s so magical about the world of Alfie.
Meeting Alfie for the First Time
The front page of the ButtSmithy website pulls up the very latest page of the story. I’m writing this review just a day shy of New Year’s Eve and InCase is taking a week off for the holidays, but he was kind enough to drop some fresh panels about a week ago. If this is your first time tuning in, you might get the sense that it’s a SFW comic. There are bunch of dudes and elves in the woods, one guy polishing his sword and another promising to take care of a big-horned goat creature who got separated from his mom last night. All in all, pretty standard fantasy tropes.
There’s a helpful link pointing back to the first page of Alfie, where most of you will want to start. If I have one immediate nitpick, it’s just that I wish there was a Wiki or something. Even a simple list of characters would make it a hell of a lot easier to jump in at any point. As a new reader, I didn’t have much sense for anything until I started from jump.
And you’ll have a lot of reading to do to get caught up. As of this writing, ButtSmithy is 1261 pages long. I’d say each page is about half of what you’d get from a physical rag, with a handful of panels that fit the screen beautifully if you’re flipping pages on a tablet. ButtSmithy doesn’t have an elaborate baked-in comic reader like you sometimes find out in the wild, but you can tell the presentation is designed with a comfortable user experience in mind. Just tap the current page to move on to the next.
While you’re flipping through the archive, you might notice occasional notes from InCase saying he’s going on a vacation or a hiatus, but he always comes back. Alfie is currently updated twice a week, with fresh pages of illustrated fantasy smut on Wednesdays and Fridays. I like to see weekly updates on any premium porn site, so two updates from a free site is even better. Most adult comic artists are doing this in their spare time, and updates are sparse.
On that note, ButtSmithy.com is totally free to read, but you can toss some money in InCase’s hat via Patreon. A buck gets you access to sketches and periodic 3D content, a fiver gets you high-res versions of the comics and lets you vote in polls. For eight bones, he rolls in timelapse videos of most of his art. I’m really happy to see that InCase has a whole shitload of patrons, more than enough to make this his main gig. Supporting the arts means more porn for us all!
Sweet Art, Perverted Sex Scenes
Starting from the beginning, the first thing I noticed about Alfie was the quality of the artwork. InCase wouldn’t have made it this far if he was doodling chicken scratch bullshit, and the art is definitely on the professional level. Butt Smithy started in black and white before moving to color, but there’s a great level of detail here from start to current storyline. All the characters are well defined, and you never struggle to figure out who’s who just by looking.
It's fapworthy, and there’s something soulful about it. You get the sense that InCase loves his characters as much as he wants you to. Perhaps it’s the eyes in particular that really help bring everyone to life, at least for me. Even on the very first panel of the first page, there’s such a high level of expression behind those elven irises.
Unlike a lot of the hentai coming straight out of the Land of the Rising Sun, ButtSmithy.com is fully uncensored. My man has a knack for illustrating genitalia, too. There’s something about the way he draws pussy hair that makes my mouth water. I can almost taste the pubes getting stuck in my teeth, and I wonder if elf chicks have their own magical aroma separate from the intoxicating musk of a human woman.
There’s a fucking ton of sex, in case you were wondering. Chapter one opens with an elf, Melly, sucking off a human while our heroine watches from the bushes. You get about ten pages of hardcore fucking from multiple angles before we segue into some talkier moments. Melly realizes Alfie was watching, and thinks it’s all pretty damn funny.
The Lord of the Rings of Smut
The high quality of the artwork and filthy nature of the sex could potentially make Butt Smithy a hit, but those are only a couple ingredients in this potent fantasy brew. Aflie’s a real treat for fantasy fans in additional to general perverts thanks to the top-shelf world-building and storytelling. I know the reference is going to date me and it’s been decades since I last read it, but certain elements really reminded me of Bone, but with a lot more fucking and sucking. InCase has also included some fantasy world maps, the kind you traced with your finger while reading Lord of the Rings.
There’s all kinds of adventuring and political intrigue to get into, but speaking as an absolute pervert, I loved the attention to detail given to the dirtier encounters. One of my favorite early bits happens in chapter two and involves Alfie’s mom, Vera. She makes some leather cuffs for a customer, who ends up wanting to be dominated by the smoking hot elf. I absolutely love the dynamics between the two characters as they both struggle to get what they want. In the end, I got exactly what I’d come looking for in the first place, messy keyboard and all.
Personally, I’m only a few chapters into Alfie, when the artwork was still in black and white. Butt Smithy has been publishing in color since around chapter six (2015), though, so all the new stuff is coming out in crisp, beautiful full color. I flipped ahead to get a peek, and man, I really love the way everything pops. I’m really trying my best to take in the whole story slowly, but I’m eager to get to the color parts.
When I first started reading Butt Smithy, I looked around for a list of characters or plotlines, or really anything that would help immerse me into the world faster. I didn’t find exactly what I was looking for, but I did end up finding a thriving fanbase for both Alfie and InCase. There’s always a lot going on in the comments sections beneath each page, and I found an r/Alfie subreddit with 1.3K members. If you want to talk about your favorite elves with a likeminded pervert, you’ll find yourself in good company.
I’ve still got a lot of catching up to do, but I’m definitely looking forward to it. Between the well-developed characters, the fantasy adventures and the fantastically illustrated hardcore sex, ButtSmithy.com offers plenty to keep you, your brain and your free hand occupied when you’re not out playing D&D with the boys. I’d recommend this one to any horny comic book reader who loves fantasy tropes and a great storyline.
